The Journey of Journeys. . .

I'm Pastor's wife at the Apostolic Faith United Pentecostal Church in Johnston City, Illinois. When we assemble together for worship, we feel close to the city limits of our Heavenly Home. Our Father meets with us; there is unity and brotherhood. We are made one family by the name of Jesus and the indwelling of God's Spirit.

The congregation we worship with is composed of some of the most delightful folks I have ever known. I don't know of anywhere else I would rather attend church. Sometimes when we are away from home visiting other services, even large gatherings, I think to myself..."I wish I was at J.C." It is my favorite house of God, and home to me and my church family.

Since 1984 this flock has allowed us the privilege of leading them in the ways of God; an awesome and fearful task.  But the Lord's promises are sure and His mercies are new every day. "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."

Our Ministry

In 1973 I married Paul Michael Glasco and we both went to work at the hospital in Carbondale, Illinois. We attended the First Apostolic Church there for two and a half years. Rev. Roy Simpkins was our pastor.

In 1975 we quit our jobs and went into the ministry full time. It was not easy being evangelists with no experience, but we made a leap of faith. We did that for about two years, then came back to Carbondale, where my husband became Assistant to Pastor Terry Cox, who was then pastor. After about a year, we became pastor at the church in Farina, Illinois, in the central part of the state.

Farina was our first church. It was small, but there were some fine saints there who made our time as pastor rewarding. After two years, we again began to evangelize, and in time became pastor of the Lighthouse UPC in Evansville, Illinois. There we stayed for three years, again leaving to evangelize. It was during this time that we learned we were going to be parents! After 12 years of marriage, it was a delightful surprise.

In 1984, when our baby, Bridget, was 6 weeks old, we assumed the pastorate of the Johnston City, Illinois United Pentecostal Church, and here we have remained these 24 years. From an attendance of 28 on our first Sunday, we just reached a record Easter (2008) attendance of 194.

We are thankful to be here in southern Illinois, not far from our families. The saints in Johnston City are now as dear to us as family, and our 24 years here are filled with cherished memories and rich personal rewards.

Mission Trips

Austria - In 2002, my husband, myself, and our daughter, Bridget, were privileged to visit two mission fields.  We spent a week with the Harold Kinneys in Vienna, Austria.  While with them, we traveled to Germany and Hungary.  Our days there were so special and we experienced several wonderful places. Sri Lanka - From Austria, we flew to Malaysia, where we stayed a day and a half; long enough to do a city tour of Kualalumpur.  Then, we flew over to Sri Lanka, where we stayed for 18 days.  With Missionaries Prince and Susanna Mathiasz, we visited five churches, attended the General Conference of Sri Lanka, and traveled through many regions of the island.  Awesome! Zambia, Africa - In August of 2006,  we traveled to Zambia, Africa along with our youth pastor, Rev. Brandon Abernathy, and his family.  It was a two week trip, and packed with unforgettable memories.  With Missionaries Gary and Sharon Abernathy,  we enjoyed the Zambian General Conference of the UPCZ.  We visited Victoria Falls, took 2 game park safaris, and spent several days in Johannesberg, South Africa. In June of 2008, I returned to Zambia for the annual Ladies Conference enjoying the fellowship of the Zambian Ladies, and visiting two Sunday services at churches in Lusaka. Photos

Holland (The Netherlands) - July 2008. At the invitation of Bro. Robert Rodenbush, we flew to Holland for a two week visit to take part in the Western European Sub-Regional Conference and the Planning Session. Sis. Tuttle and the Kinneys were such wonderful hosts to see that we were very comfortable and to show us some wonderful sites of that special little country. Photos.
