Basics of my Personal Journey
I grew up in Carbondale, Illinois and graduated from high school in 1972. I didn't go to college. Instead, I got a job and got married at age 19. I married a minister so I knew there was no telling where life would take me. But for the most part, we have lived in Illinois, and particularly southern Illinois.
My life's work has been that of Pastor's wife. I have always tried to be a compliment to my husband's ministry, Sometimes I haven't done so hot. Other times, OK. I play the piano a little and sing a bit. I've done about everything around the church, Been a teacher, an organizer, an entertainer, a food server and a janitor. Whatever.
Scrapbooking is one of my hobbies and I love to do artsy things. I have taught myself to do some desktop publishing and I like to do print projects for the church.
In 1998, I went back to school and earned an Associate degree. I then worked part-time for a few years for the Southern Illinois Tourism Development Office. I met a lot of people and made some good friends. It is a field I enjoy working in. But, I discovered that I love to go to school. Now, I want to be a life-long student. I have continued taking courses from time to time and have found web design a special area of interest.
My Family
I'm glad to have learned the priceless secret. It is that the people we love and that love us are life's most valuable possessions. They are our real treasures.
Over the years I have come to realize what a wonderful man my husband is. He's been a consistant Christian all these years, faithful and good to me. He's made me proud of the things he has achieved in his ministry, and I have absolute respect for him as a man and as a minister. I don't know how I got so blessed!
And then, I have been given a beautiful daughter who has brought so much joy to our home. I'm dazzled by her fabulous red hair that she fixes with such style. I was never such a classy thing as she is. I am still astonished at how tall she is. We have been unable to trace the tall and classy genes. The red hair is a no-brainer.
I am thankful that we are all together living for the Lord, and our home is a sanctuary from the chaos that is in the world. And, after all of life is said and done, the only treasure that we can take with us to Heaven is our family! Right? "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

My Country Get-Away
We are blessed to have this neat little spot to escape to a day or two a week. It's a Rest and Relaxation Spot along Life's Journey. The Pastor is "on-call" 24-7, and so it can be a challenge to take a day off now and then just to be refreshed. A 45 minute drive, and we are in the back of beyond.
